La Tour Melas 2022
What began as a season of promise soon demanded adaptability and precision. The 2022 vintage, opened with well-timed rains and over 35 inches of precipitation throughout
the winter and early spring. These early conditions built strong, healthy soils and encouraged lush cover crops, promoting even shoot growth and a vibrant early canopy—
setting the foundation for a great year. However, the generosity of winter was not echoed in the months that followed. Spring arrived dry, and the drought extended deep into summer, accompanied by unrelenting
heat. These conditions challenged both vine and vintner, pushing us to rethink and refine our vineyard practices in real time. It was a season that tested limits—and rewarded resilience.
Then, just as the Cabernet approached maturity, nature offered a final gift: a timely rainfall that refreshed the vines and extended the ripening period. This gentle pause allowed the Cabernet to reach a perfect equilibrium—capturing both ripeness
and finesse, with beautifully integrated tannins and layered aromatics. In the cellar, the vintage revealed itself with clarity and poise. Each decision was shaped by the season’s rhythm, allowing the wine’s natural elegance to shine.
Tasting Notes
The 2022 vintage is poised and expressive.
Delicate aromas of wild berries, rose petal, and fresh herbs unfold into darker tones of graphite, black cherry, and subtle spice. On the palate, the wine is polished and layered, with fine tannins and bright acidity that frame the fruit. The finish is long and harmonious, hinting at a graceful evolution over time.
