La Tour Melas’s vineyard comprises of ten different terroirs, and after twenty years of winemaking, we are proud to present the exceptional blend from three of them: Thymari, Pyrgos, and Vouno which have always impressed us with their unique elegance and expression. The result is a wine that combines the balance between vintages, experiences, sentiments and faithfully reflects the magic of our land. This red wine has no vintage, as it’s the single blend of only the best harvests of 2019 and 2020, bottled in a limited quantity of 588 bottles only.

Tasting Notes

Chairman's Reserve - Bottling 2022

Each parcel possesses its own unique characteristics: Cabernet Franc (45%) from Thymari, with its roots delving into calcareous clays, which impart a distinctive elegance. Meanwhile, the Cabernet Franc (40%) from Pyrgos, benefiting from its specific stony clay soil, showcases a rich complexity. Finally, the Merlot (15%) from Vouno, with its superficial and bed-rocky soil, adds depth and nuance to the blend.

Wine-making

The grapes are hand-harvested and sorted according to the specific micro-parcel they come from. These micro-lots then ferment separately in open-top barrels using wild yeasts. After that, malolactic fermentation also occurs in the barrels. The wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered, with total sulphites kept below 100mg/L.

Ageing

Envisioning the potential of each distinctive lot, for the first 18 months, the wines aged in oak barrels, and then, carefully preserved in glass spherical vats, allowing them to evolve and express their full character.
